432Hz is an audio-visual performance piece
that utilizes custom software to create generative sound and imagery
that is projected in real time. The imagery evolves on a large projection.
The audio is comprised of computer generated sound waves that evolve over the course of the performance
and that become input that affects the video imagery in the system.
These video feeds act as a type of visualization
of the audio where the oscillators are reduced to numerical data which is translated into movement
in simulated three dimensional space.
These soundwaves are evaluated based on certain properties of the audio signal.
This data is transcoded into a system of vectors in space.
The piece becomes an experience of computer generated sound waves that pulse
and create a rhythmic and pulsing audio-visual experience of algorithms.
The array of sound waves are based on the 432 Hz tuning scale which is an older
scale that was suggested for tuning before the international standard of 440 Hz was adopted.
The visual three dimensional space creates a data visualization of the
evolving soundwaves as an expression of sound as numbers and mathematical
operations unfolding within the computer's processor.
